This workshop series explores evidence-based psychological and behavioural principles relevant to working with obesity-related psychological presentations, delivered live online for clinician and allied health practitioners.

About This Workshop Series

The Psychological Approaches to Obesity workshop series equips practitioners with psychologically grounded skills and frameworks for understanding and supporting individuals experiencing obesity-related distress.

This series focuses on motivation, behaviour change, maintenance, and psychological processes that influence weight-related presentations. It integrates conceptual understanding with applied behavioural and psychological strategies for clinical practice.

This workshop series can be taken independently or as part of the Master Practitioner Programme in Eating Disorders & Weight-Related Care.

This workshop series is suitable for qualified or experienced practitioners who work, or intend to work, with people experiencing obesity-related psychological challenges, disordered eating patterns, or weight management concerns. It supports a multidisciplinary audience including:

  • Psychologists, psychotherapists and counsellors

  • Dietitians, nutritionists and allied health professionals

  • Medical professionals involved in obesity-related care

  • Coaches and health professionals seeking psychologically informed competence within their scope

Workshop Structure

This workshop series of 24 hours in total comprises live online workshops delivered via Zoom. The content focuses on psychological and behavioural principles and their practical application:

  • Workshop 1 — Conceptualising Psychological Dimensions of Obesity
    An overview of psychological and behavioural influences on obesity-related presentations, including motivational and cognitive factors.

  • Workshop 2 — Behavioural and Psychological Strategies for Change
    Practical approaches to supporting readiness, behaviour change, maintenance, and relapse prevention in weight-related contexts.

Participants are encouraged to bring real clinical cases (anonymised) for discussion, reflection, and applied learning.

  • Delivered live online via Zoom in blocks of 4 hours each

  • Interactive, with discussion, case application, and exercises

  • Recordings available for participants

Each workshop attended earns 12 credits as a member of the Lebanese Order of Psychologists (LOPsy) and a Certificate of Attendance.

Professional Recognition & CPD

Participants may apply for recognition of this workshop series through their relevant professional bodies for continuing professional development (CPD) or other equivalent credits according to regulatory requirements.

Pathway & Diploma Options

While attendance at this workshop series is standalone, you may choose to complete optional marked assignments to validate your learning. Completing assignments across workshop series contributes to eligibility for a diploma award within the Master Practitioner Programme.
